The Hard Drive is the device that stores all of the information for your pc. These range in size from very small (20 gigs or less: No longer in Production) to 500 + Gigs. *A gig, or Gigabyte is a measurement of space equivalent to 1024 megabytes. To give you a comparison here are a few common storage mediums and there approximate size:

Floppy Disk: 1.44 Megabytes

CD ROM: 700 Megabytes

DVD ROM 4.7 Gigabytes
